Asia
GCAP Asia is made up of 13 national coalitions. Post the adoption of Agenda 2030, GCAP’s Asia constituents have been active in spreading awareness, capacity building and review of SDG implementations. For example, GCAP Bangladesh (in 2016) and GCAP India, GCAP Nepal and GCAP Japan (in 2017) did CSO reports on SDGs in response to the VNRs. In 2017, GCAP Asia also organised mass actions in 13 countries around Global Day of Action on 25 September.
In December 2017, GCAP launched its “Faces of Inequality campaign” for Asia and Pacific in Fiji in partnership with PIANGO and UNDP Bangkok Hub. GCAP Asia is also the steering committee member of the Asia Civil Society Partnership on Sustainable Development (APSD), an independent civil society initiative on SDGs and climate change. The GCAP Asia coordinator coordinates the platform, which also supports civil society processes on the VNRs at the national level. This year APSD supported the processes in Lao PDR and Sri Lanka in 2018.
