GCAP Asia is made up of 11 national coalitions and Social Justice Task Force on DWD (SJTF), which is convened by Asia Dalit Rights Forum (ADRF). Post-Agenda 2030 activities have focused GCAP Asia´s constituents on spreading awareness, capacity building, review & the implementations of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through national processes. In 2016 GCAP Bangladesh, GCAP India (2017 and 2020), GCAP Nepal (2017 and 2020), GCAP Japan (in 2017 and in 2021) and GCAP Pakistan (in 2019) implemented CSO “shadow” reports on SDGs, in response to the Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) by state governments. National coalitions in GCAP Asia have organised mass actions during the Global Week of Action surrounding the anniversary of the SDGs on 25 September for several years.
In 2021 “Vaccine Inequality” in the region has become a central focus and most tangible measure of inequalities in the region and within countries. GCAP Asia is playing a leading role as part of the People’s Vaccine Alliance (PVA) Asia chapter demanding a free and universal Covid vaccine.
