Civil society organisations across Asia are set to launch the Economic Justice Mobilisation in Asia on 18 June 2025. The mobilisation aims to challenge global financial systems that deepen inequality, debt crises and climate injustice in the region.

The event will begin with Beena Pallical, Representative, Social Justice Task Force, GCAP Global, setting the context, followed by a comprehensive discussion on the region’s pressing economic and social issues, moderated by Anselmo Lee (Coordinator, Asia Pacific Research Network – APSD).

An open discussion will follow to gather inputs from participants.

In the second session, moderated by Jagat Patnaik (Action Aid International), the Economic Justice Mobilisation in Asia will be launched. This segment will include:

• Praman Adhikari, SAAPE/LDC Watch – presenting the Sign-On Statement

Pradeep Baisakh, Asia Coordinator, GCAP, will outline plans for Asia’s mobilisation towards the upcoming UN Financing for Development (FfD4) Conference.

The event will conclude with remarks and thanks from Jamila Asanova, Asia Development Alliance.

With the call “We Stand with Billions, Not Billionaires”, the mobilisation demands cancellation of illegitimate debts, reform of the global financial architecture and pursuit of climate and economic justice. The initiative urges Asian CSOs and governments to seize 2025 as a Jubilee Year—an opportunity to reset the global economic order for equity and sustainability.
