To mark the 500 day deadline to meet the Millennium Development Goals and adopt a new global Post-2015 agenda, GCAP constituents across Asia gathered in person and online to launch ‘iMove for Justice, Peace and Equality’, a campaign demanding that leaders at all levels uphold human rights and implement policies that are just, sustainable and transformative. In the Philippines, a coalition of civil society organisations highlighted the widening wealth gap amidst growing numbers of landless, homeless, malnourished, uneducated, unemployed and sick people in the country.

Youth Ki Awaaz anchored a 12-hour tweet-a-thon in India, 90 minutes focused on each MDG.

Korean activists began by raising awareness at an outdoor event in Seoul . . .

. . . while in Cambodia the focus is on corruption. Following a launch event at a bi-monthly meeting of the Cooperation Committee for Cambodia (CCC) in Phnom Penh, students and other activists have organised marches, bike rides and other events in the provinces.

“The Post-2015 world should be just and sustainable,” GCAP Global Council member and aksyon/2015 conveor Beckie Malay told media at an event also attended by Quezon City’s vice mayor, “but this can only happen when everyone actively engages and participates in discussions about the future we want.”

The next 15 months present a unique opportunity for action as global leaders are expected to adopt a new set of Sustainable Development Goals and finalise international climate negotiations at ‘COP 21’. iMoves are being organised as part of the action/2015 asia platform in line with GCAP’s Global Moves for Justice.

Future iMove activities include a photo contest in Cambodia, a UN postcard campaign based on artwork by elementary students affected by Tyhoon Haiyan, basketball clinics, roundtables, climate walks and more.
