Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to #Act4SDGs and to mobilise for Economic Justice!
We organise the Global People’s Assembly 2024 from Sunday, 22 September to Tuesday, 24 September 2024. This year, the Assembly will be held in person at the UN Church Centre in New York in front of the UN during the UN Summit of the Future on 22-23 September 2024, and during the UN General Assembly.

We will address crucial UN processes with a focus on economic justice, including climate action, debt, tax, financing for development, gender equality, civic space, and social justice.
The Global People’s Assembly is the culmination of constituency, national, and regional People’s Assemblies, bringing together representatives of marginalized and excluded communities, along with civil society, to discuss critical global justice issues.
Interpretation will be provided in French and Spanish for the plenary and part of the sessions.
#Act4SDGs – September Action for Economic Justice
As always in September, also this year GCAP will mobilize to Act4SDGs – with a focus on Economic Justice, linking it to debt, social, and climate justice as essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For eradicating poverty and inequalities – SDG 1 and 10 – we need Universal Social Protection Floors.
The September Actions include community and constituency assemblies; national people’s assemblies; regional assemblies; and also public stunts.

National People’s Assemblies
Key element of the actions are national people’s assemblies in Asia – India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Cambodia and The Philippines; Latin America and the Caribbean – Nicaragua, Peru, Paraguay, El Salvador and Guatemala; and in Africa – for example in Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Togo, Nigeria and Mali. The GCAP Social Justice Task Force will hold a virtual Asia-level Dalit People’s Assembly.

Tanzania Sustainable Development Platform (GCAP Tanzania) hosted the People’s Assembly on
6 September 2024, bringing together 180 representatives from civil society organisations across the country.

Pakistan Development Alliance (GCAP Pakistan) held the National People’s Assembly on 12 September in Islamabad, bringing
together people’s representatives, academia, government officials and civil society to deliberate on the Summit of the Future.
