Dear Colleagues,

Thanks to all of you who contributed to the Global People’s Assembly 2022! 1300 participants from 127 countries were actively engaged from 20 to 22 September – in the high level week of the UN General Assembly.

During these times of crisis – from increasing poverty, hunger and inequalities, the climate to the debt crisis to war  – this has been a wonderful effort of global solidarity during the Global Week of Action #Act4SDGs. (A separate newsletter will feature these stories – coming soon.)

Read the PROGRAMME here for details of all the sessions. You can also watch and re-visit the Global People’s Assembly 2022 on the GCAP Youtube Channel: Playlist-Global People’s Assembly 2022.

Much thanks especially to the 28 co-organising partners for the event, and all the organisations and individuals who helped in every session.

We are seen and heard, let’s make sure our impact is felt even more from here on out!

The messages have been written out in the Declaration of the Global People’s Assembly 2022.  Let us share this document widely, and proudly as participants from 30 National People’s Assemblies as well the four regional assemblies, the constituency groups and the thematic events –  all 3 days of our activities are captured in it.

We are sharing this with the UN Leadership. Please feel free to share with your governments and on social media: A post or a tweet can go a long way – support us as we bring our messages to them! Post, tweet and speak with your communities in real-time about it.

We have enjoyed a good showing on media coverage  – for example, in India’s Countercurrents.orgIn Depth News, and Pakistan’s The Nation and Daily Times . Coalition members have also contributed their time and effort in published pieces from Democracy Without BordersCoalition For the UN We Need and Forus International with Asia Development Alliance. While the 3-day Global People’s Assembly culminated in an Online Press Conference last September 23, our shared journey towards global justice and sustainable equality continues. Pass these stories on, across your own networks and even outside.

Here are links to the Global People’s Assembly 2022 Press Release, in ENGLISHFRENCH and SPANISH. Feel free to share as well.

We look forward to seeing results of our mobilisations in the coming weeks. We have been receiving messages of support and solidarity from key stakeholders – we must keep at our efforts.

Stay tuned to our future events through the GCAP Facebook PageGCAP Twitter Page, and the GCAP website.
