Leave No Woman Behind report on the situation of women with disabilities and other discriminations

Date: 18 April 2019 , Time: 14:30-16:00

Venue: Jardin d’Andalouse, Palmeraie Palace, Marrakech

Guaranteeing gender equality and addressing inequalities are key to achieving the SDGs and Agenda 2063. This year, SDG 10, which calls for addressing inequalities will be reviewed at the HLPF. The expectations are very high as, it is an opportunity to engage and call for action to bridge inequality gaps, which adversely affect women’s progress especially the Africa women. However, what does this SGD 10 mean for women in Africa?

GCAP and FEMNET in cooperation with partners prepare a regional status report on the multiple discriminations against women especially women with disabilities. The report will highlight among issues the findings of multiple discriminations against women with disabilities from Ghana, Kenya and Mali and how to address them to ensure that no Women is left behind in the achievement of the SDGs.

Speakers:

  1. Report from Ghana: Alice Appiah, Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD)
  2. Report on Africa: Hellen Apila, FEMNET
