Women and Feminists Constituency Group

The Women and Feminists Constituency Group comprises women’s organisations from diverse women’s and feminists organisations, including from organisations of multiple discriminated women, including Women with Disabilities, Indigenous Women, Dalit Women, Women living in Informal Settlements/Slums, Women in remote Rural Areas and Agricultural Workers, Older Women and Widows.

The constituency works to safeguard the rights of women facing multiple forms of discrimination, exploitation, abuse and violence. It advocates for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure no woman is left behind.

Multiple discrimination against women is a pervasive issue globally, with compounding factors such as race, caste, ethnicity, disability, socio-economic status, religion, or sexual orientation exacerbating gender inequality. This discrimination amplifies inequalities, subjecting women to systemic barriers that limit their access to education, healthcare, employment and political participation.

The constituency group prioritizes analyzing regional and thematic dynamics that perpetuate discrimination against women and proposes policy-based solutions. Members of the constituency represent GCAP at various international platforms, including the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Conference of the Parties (COP) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), UN Civil Society Conference and Summit of the Future.

The constituency also observes global programmes related to women, such as International Women’s Day, organising activities and stunts under themes like ‘Leave No Woman Behind’ and ‘Inspire Inclusion’.
