Faces of Inequalities Campaign mardi 10 juillet 2018
Global Launch and Reception
12 July 2018, 18:00 – 20:00
Church Center of the UN, 2nd Floor, 777 United Nations Plaza, New York
A people’s movement is needed to ensure that “Leave No One Behind » becomes reality and not a mere slogan – and that SDG 10 – reduced inequalities within and between countries – is achieved. To build this movement, we are featuring the Faces of Inequality. The campaign demands:
1. Social Protection for all
2. Tax Justice and Decent Work
3. Gender Equality and inclusion of marginalised groups in political processes
4. Climate Justice
As speakers we have invited grassroots representatives and civil society partners from different parts of the world to share their stories and their struggles to end inequalities:
People with Disabilities: Beatrice Akua Mahmood and Rita Kyerema, Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD)
Women and Girls in Informal Settlements: Jane Anyango, Polycom, Nairobi; and Elizabeth Ampairwe, FOWODE/FEMNET
Rural Women and Girls: Aminata Toure Barry, GCAP Mali
Dalits: Paul Divakar, Asia Dalits Rights Forum
Older People: Chaminda De Silva, HelpAge Sri Lanka
GCAP Global Co-Chairs Salina Sanou and Beckie Malay with representatives from National Coalitions will launch the campaign.
Snacks and drinks will be served. We look forward to your participation! Join us, RSVP here or email kyerewa@gcap.global.
